Helping us to shape our new Housing Strategy

Overview

West Northamptonshire Council is developing a new housing strategy which will be a high-level document that will explain our vision, plans and priorities for the next two years.   

Housing is not just having a roof over your head; everyone deserves a home that is affordable, safe, secure and comfortable. Our housing directly impacts our health and it affects our access to education, employment and health services. It should provide a sense of security and a stable environment for children to grow up in and to help us to live our best lives.

To frame the new housing strategy, West Northants Council has suggested four draft themes and their priorities, these will be key to tackling the housing pressures across West Northants and improving housing for all our residents, as well as helping to deliver the Council’s Corporate Plan. These themes and priorities have been developed following several workshops with Council members, internal teams and key partners.  The four draft themes are:

• Deliver the homes that people need and can afford to live in
• Improve the quality, standard and safety of homes and housing services
• Enable residents to live safe, healthy, independent and active lives
• Support sustainable and thriving communities

We want to make sure that the new housing strategy covers the housing issues important to our residents and stakeholders and this can be achieved by asking you to help us shape it.  We welcome your views and comments on the four draft themes along with the suggested priorities that will help deliver them. For each theme we will ask you the following questions and there will be an opportunity at the end for any additional comments:-

• Your views on the suggested priorities
• If there is anything missing
