Share your views on Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service’s five-year plan

Closes 21 May 2025

Opened 9 Apr 2025

Overview

Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service has launched a draft Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) for 2025-2030, and they are seeking feedback from residents across the county.

Key highlights of the CRMP

The CRMP takes a detailed look at what risks are currently present and may emerge between 2025 and 2030. Based on the evidence that is available, the Service has put forward proposals within the CRMP that outline how it will align its resources with certain risks.

  • Evolving role of firefighters: Fires now make up only a third of the 999 calls. This means the role of a firefighter is becoming more diverse – varying from rescuing casualties in road traffic collisions to disposing hazardous materials safely.
  • Strategic priorities: The focus will be on prevention, protection, and response, with an emphasis on adapting to climate emergencies like localised flooding and wildfires.

Strategic priorities:

There are 5 strategic priorities which nare the key areas of focus that the service has identified as the most important to achieve its long-term goals and objectives. These are:

  1. Help people stay safe from fire and other emergencies.
  2. Improve fire safety in residential and commercial buildings.
  3. Respond immediately and effectively to emergency incidents.
  4. Continue to develop and support the workforce.
  5. Manage and invest in the Service to remain agile and fit for the future.

Consultation period

Residents are invited to share their views on these priorities the Service's response times, in a six-week consultation starting from 9 April and ending 21 May 2025.
