Have your say on: Manor Road, Brackley Highway Improvements

Closes 14 Jul 2025

Opened 24 Jun 2025

Overview

We are seeking your feedback to find the best solution for reducing congestion and improving road safety on Manor Road in Brackley.

Introduction

Manor Road is a busy route within Brackley, running adjacent to the High Street and home to four schools, two nurseries, as well as homes and businesses.

The road experiences high levels of road traffic, particularly during peak times such as school drop-offs and pick-ups. The road itself is very limited in space, with narrow footways and a high demand for parking, making it feel less safe for pedestrians and less appealing for walking and cycling.

Working alongside technical consultants, we have explored several solutions to make Manor Road safer and more user-friendly for everyone. A series of workshops have been held with key stakeholders, including local schools, local councillors, and the Town Council, to review the challenges and help shape the measures being explored.

We are now asking for your feedback on each of these which will help develop a preferred package of measures that will improve safety and usability for all road users.

Measures being considered

The following provides summaries of the proposed measures; however more detailed information is available throughout this engagement exercise.

Package 1

Traffic Circulation: Changes to make Manor Road one-way northbound between Waynflete Avenue and Halse Road, and Waynflete Avenue one-way westbound between Manor Road and Beaumont Crescent with contraflow cycling permitted but not marked.

Measures include: Simple, cost-effective changes, providing marked out on street parking bays, adding raised platforms at zebra crossings, introducing new raised zebra crossings, widening footpaths, improving junction surfaces to enhance safety and accessibility on Manor Road.

Package 2

Traffic Circulation: Changes to make Manor Road one-way northbound between Waynflete Avenue and Halse Road, and Waynflete Avenue one-way eastbound between Beaumont Crescent and Manor Road with contraflow cycling permitted but not marked.

Measures include: Larger changes to make Manor Road safer, such as continuous footways across junctions, marked out on-street parking bays for residents, raised zebra crossings, new crossings, making footpaths wider, priority areas for pedestrians and cyclists. Redesigning junctions to make them clearer and safer.

Package 3

Traffic Circulation: Changes to make Manor Road one-way southbound between Halse Road and Waynflete Avenue, and Waynflete Avenue one-way westbound between Manor Road and Beaumont Crescent with contraflow cycling permitted but not marked.

Measures include:  Possible changes to improve safety and access, such as wider and continuous footways across junctions, marked out on-street parking for residents, raising zebra crossings, new crossings, and redesigning junctions to make them clearer and safer.
