We asked

We conducted a study and asked residents and others with a local connection (through past residence, close family, or employment) to the Parish of Brixworth to complete a survey about housing needs and requirements. This work helps to understand the kind of housing needed in the area.

The information provided is vital in producing a balanced picture of housing circumstances as well as informing future housing and planning policies. This work was undertaken with the support and assistance of the Parish Council.

A Housing Needs Survey was carried out in the Parish of Brixworth between Monday 11 December 2023 and Sunday 14 January 2024. There were 349 individual responses received. 17.5% of all respondents confirmed that they have or may have (in the next five years) a housing need, the need being mainly for market and affordable homes. 66% of all respondents would or may support new homes in the Parish for local people.

We did

Following the collection and analysis of the Brixworth Parish Housing Needs Survey results, a report has been developed and shared with the Parish Council, before being published. Housing Needs Survey reports are available to view on our Website.

Overview

West Northamptonshire Council is conducting a housing needs survey in Brixworth. If you have a connection to Brixworth, such as you live there, have family or work there, we would like to hear from you.

Housing needs surveys are completed to help identify current and future housing need at a local level. Information collected from the surveys helps the council to understand and work towards improving the housing supply to meet those needs and looks at whether the area needs market housing, affordable housing, or both.

The last Brixworth Housing Needs Survey was carried out in 2013 and is required to be updated to understand current trends and future housing needs of this village. The Brixworth Neighbourhood Plan (BNP) was approved in 2016 and updated in 2021 after the development to the south off Northampton Road was completed. No further sites were identified. This applies along with the Daventry District Settlements and Countryside Plan until 2029. Through the BNP a new Doctors Surgery, extensions at the Primary School, additional car parking at the shops and funds towards a new play area and games area at St. David’s were created.

West Northamptonshire Council, along with support from Brixworth Parish Council have decided to conduct a new survey by asking Brixworth residents questions that could help shape the form and future of Brixworth.

If there is more than one member of you household that will or may require alternative accommodation, therefore needing to form another separate household, they are also invited to complete a separate paper survey (from the Council using the contact details below).

This survey will close midnight Sunday 14 January 2024.

If you have any questions or enquiries about the survey, or require the survey in another format such as a paper copy or large print, please contact the Housing Strategy Team via email housingstrategy.ddc@westnorthants.gov.uk or telephone 0300 126 7000.

For information about how responses to housing needs surveys are managed, please see the housing needs survey privacy notice.

What happens next

The results to this survey will be collected and analysed in a report which will be made available to view online.
