Have your say on the draft West Northamptonshire Local Transport Plan

Closed 17 Oct 2024

Opened 25 Jul 2024

Overview

We are developing West Northamptonshire’s Local Transport Plan (LTP). The LTP sets out our vision on maintaining and improving all aspects of local transport up to 2045. We are now seeking your views on our draft LTP.

What is a Local Transport Plan?

A LTP is a statutory document that sets out the transportation needs, challenges, and priorities for a local area. It provides the medium to long-term strategic direction for maintaining and improving all aspects of local transport with initial focus on the next five years.

A LTP sets out council’s objectives, policies and goals in relation to future transport schemes, network management and how people will use the transport links to get to and from work, socialise, access education and services.

Introduction to the draft West Northamptonshire Local Transport Plan

The LTP, the first to be developed by West Northamptonshire Council, supports the Council’s Vision: to make West Northants a great place to live, work, visit and thrive.

The LTP sets out our long-term strategy for maintaining and improving all aspects of local transport, supporting our commitment to tackle the climate challenge and to be Net Zero by 2045.

The LTP has been developed with key stakeholders and sets out 16 policy areas and a programme of interventions, with a particular focus on the actions and approaches which are needed over the next five years.

The Plan ensures that other transport related policies and ambitions are working together and effectively towards our LTP Vision.

Our Vision for the LTP looks to the future and describes our overarching ambition for what transport will be like in West Northamptonshire by 2045.
