Provide your views on Solid Fuel Burning

Closes 31 Jan 2025

Opened 5 Dec 2024

Overview

People in West Northamptonshire who burn solid fuels in an open fire, burner or stove are being asked to provide their views and comments on fuel burning.

What is solid fuel?

Solid fuel can include things such as coffee logs, wood, briquettes, and coal.

We are taking part in some important research which aims to understand more about the impact of fuel burning on air quality, and about potential links to health conditions. This is because there is little information available at a local level about the types of burning that occurs, the fuel used, and how long the burning takes place. The work also forms part of wider actions being brough forward to reduce pollution across the area, and raise public awareness.

As well as this important research, the Council is also looking for volunteers who use solid fuel burners to have an air quality monitor installed within their home.
