Traffic regulation order: The Mounts, Northampton

Overview

Seventeen Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), across seven streets, are being proposed in the Mounts area of Northampton which aim to increase the number of available parking spaces.

West Northamptonshire Council’s Community Safety and Engagement Team has worked with groups in the Mounts area of Northampton to consider changes to Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).

This has resulted in a number of proposals which aim to increase the number of parking spaces that are available while ensuring that restrictions are both legal and enforceable:

• TM01: Charles Street
• TM02a, TM02b: Connaught Street / Charles Street
• TM03a, TM03b, TM03c: Margaret Street
• TM04a, TM04b, TM04c: Cranstoun Street
• TM05a, TM05b, TM05c, TM05d: Dunster Street
• TM06: Alcombe Road
• TM07a, TM07b, TM07c: Queens Road

Please consider the proposals and share your views with us. You can respond to all the TROs or a select number of them.

Proposals which are supported by more than half of those who respond will be further assessed as part of Northamptonshire Highways’ Annual Parking Review Process (in August, date TBC). This process includes consultation with the public, stakeholders and councillors, and allows all parties the opportunity to object before any amendments are made or ground works started.

This survey will run from Monday 17 May to midnight on Sunday 13 June 2021.

What happens next

The feedback provided will be reviewed to determine which proposals have the support of residents and other street users. Those with support will be put forward for consideration to the Traffic Regulations and Parking Annual Review, taking place in August (date TBC).
